How It Works

It is fantasy football, with one addition: every team holds a superpower it can play each week to bend a matchup. If you have played fantasy before, that is the only new thing to learn.

The season in four steps

  1. Draft a power

A randomised lottery sets the order, then each manager claims one of the 21 superpowers. In most leagues each power goes to only one team. Stronger powers start you with less money to spend — in Extreme leagues a smaller auction budget, and in both profiles less waiver money. That trade-off is the first real decision you make.

  2. Draft a team

Normal leagues run a standard snake draft. Extreme leagues run an auction where your budget comes from your power, and every $1 you leave unspent becomes $5 of in-season waiver money.

  3. Declare each week

Set your lineup, then tell the app what your power is doing this week — who you are doubling, whose star you are benching. Most powers lock at 4:00 PM ET Thursday.

  4. Watch the reveal

At the Thursday deadline every declaration in the league flips face-up at once. Until that moment nobody knows what is coming — not your opponent, not the commissioner. Then the games play out.

What a week looks like

  1. Tuesday 4:00 PM ET

Last week's scores go final by midday. In Extreme leagues, this is drop day: every team releases three players into free agency. Extreme only

  2. Wednesday 4:00 PM ET

Waiver bids lock and claims process. Anyone nobody claimed becomes a free agent.

  3. Thursday 4:00 PM ET

Every superpower is declared — and revealed. All of them, at the same moment. This is the loud part of the week.

  4. Thu – Mon Game days

Football happens. Powers resolve as the games do, and results are final by midday Tuesday.

Two ways to play

Every league picks a profile when it is created. Same superpowers, same matchups — very different weekly workload.

Normal

The superpowers, without the homework.

  • Snake draft
  • 15 roster spots — 9 starters, 6 bench
  • 15 superpowers available
  • No forced drops
  • Standard scoring, no kickers

Best if some of your league is new to fantasy.

Extreme

Sweat every roster spot, every week.

  • Auction draft — budget set by your power
  • 13 roster spots — 11 starters, 2 bench
  • All 21 superpowers
  • 3 forced drops a week
  • Half PPR, Superflex, player rentals and warehousing

Best for leagues that want maximum churn and chaos.

Common questions

What is Superpower Fantasy Football?

It is a fantasy football league where every team also holds a unique superpower it can play each week to change the outcome of a matchup — doubling your captain's score, benching your opponent's star, or taking the top waiver player before anyone can bid. Standard fantasy scoring underneath, a weekly strategy layer on top.

Do I need fantasy football experience?

No. The Normal league profile was built for newer and more casual leagues: a snake draft, a deep bench, and no forced weekly roster moves. If you have played any fantasy football before, the only genuinely new thing to learn is your superpower.

Is it free to play?

Yes. Creating an account, starting a league and playing a full season are free.

What is the difference between the Extreme and Normal leagues?

Extreme uses an auction draft, 13 roster spots with a two-player bench, all 21 superpowers, three forced drops every week, and lets teams rent and warehouse players. Normal uses a snake draft, 15 spots with a six-player bench, 15 superpowers, and no forced drops. Same core game, very different weekly workload.

What is a superpower and how do I get one?

Before the draft, a randomised lottery sets a selection order and each manager picks one power from the catalogue; in most leagues each power is held by only one team. Your power is yours for the season, and it also sets your starting waiver budget — and, in Extreme leagues, your auction draft budget. Stronger powers start you with less money.

How do I use my superpower each week?

You declare it in the app before its deadline, which is 4:00 PM ET on Thursday for most powers. Every declaration in the league is revealed at the same moment, so nobody knows what is coming until it lands. Miss the deadline and your power sits out that week.

Can my opponent stop my superpower?

Yes. The Defense Against the Dark Arts power can block almost anything in the game — only Cherry Picker, Stockbroker and Trashpicking Vampire cannot be blocked. Since every declaration is simultaneous, blocking is a guess about what your opponent is about to do.

What does a typical week look like?

On Tuesday last week's scores go final by midday, and in Extreme leagues your drops are due at 4:00 PM ET. Waiver bids lock Wednesday at 4:00 PM ET. Every superpower is declared by 4:00 PM ET Thursday and all of them are revealed at once. Then you watch football.

Can I trade with other teams?

Yes. Players and waiver money can be traded permanently; draft picks cannot be traded, and all trading freezes once the playoffs begin. Extreme leagues add temporary deals as well — renting a superpower for a week, or a player for one to four weeks.

How long is a season, and how do the playoffs work?

A 14-week regular season by default, then a six-team playoff bracket. Seeds one to four go by record, the fifth seed by total points scored, and the sixth by a profile-specific tiebreak. Once a team is knocked out, its superpower switches off for the rest of the season.
