Glossary
Every term you need, in plain English. The first group is standard fantasy football vocabulary — skip it if you already play. The second group is specific to this game.
Standard fantasy football terms
- FAAB
- Free Agent Acquisition Budget — the fake-money bankroll you bid with on waivers. Here it is also spendable in trades, and in Extreme leagues on rentals and warehousing.
- Waivers
- The once-a-week blind auction for unrostered players. Bids lock at 4:00 PM ET Wednesday and nobody sees anyone else's bid; ties go to the lower-ranked team.
- Free agent
- A player nobody claimed on waivers. Available immediately, first come first served.
- Snake draft
- A draft where the pick order reverses every round, so whoever picks last in round one picks first in round two. This is how Normal leagues draft.
- Auction draftExtreme only
- A draft where every manager bids real budget on every player rather than taking turns. This is how Extreme leagues draft — and your budget is set by your superpower.
- FLEX
- A starting lineup slot that accepts a running back, wide receiver or tight end.
- SuperflexExtreme only
- A starting slot that accepts a quarterback as well as a RB, WR or TE — in practice, a second quarterback. Extreme rosters have one; Normal rosters do not.
- DST
- Your starting team defense and special teams unit, scored on sacks, takeaways, touchdowns and how few points it gives up.
- Half PPR
- Half a point per reception. Extreme scores half PPR, Normal scores standard with no reception bonus. Neither profile uses kickers.
Unique to this game
- Superpower
- A unique per-team ability that changes the outcome of a matchup — doubling a player's points, benching an opponent's star, stealing a waiver pick. Every team has one, and keeps it all season.
- Declaration
- Submitting your power's target for the week before that power's deadline. Miss it and the power is void for that week.
- Simultaneous reveal
- Every team's declaration flips face-up at once at 4:00 PM ET Thursday. Nobody sees your pick before then — not even the commissioner.
- Blockable / DADA
- Powers marked blockable can be countered by the Defense Against the Dark Arts power. 18 of the 21 are blockable — the exceptions are Cherry Picker, Stockbroker and Trashpicking Vampire.
- Rentable power
- A power that can be lent to another team for one week in exchange for FAAB.
- Player rentalExtreme only
- Temporarily renting another team's player into your starting lineup for one to four weeks for an upfront FAAB fee. The player returns automatically when the deal ends.
- WarehousingExtreme only
- Paying another team FAAB to hold one of your players on their roster so it survives the weekly drops. The host can never drop, trade or rent that player.
- Position target
- How many players you want to WIN at each position on waivers. You may file as many bids as you like; every claim past your target is voided rather than awarded.
- Mandatory weekly dropExtreme only
- Every team must release three players into free agency by 4:00 PM ET Tuesday — four if you were the week's lowest scorer, two if you were the highest — or take an automatic $20 FAAB fine.
